Women & Gender Grant 2022 Awarded

Shuvangi Khadka, a winner of the Women & Gender Grant in 2022, began her first short documentary project in March of that year with limited experience but a strong passion for storytelling. Supported by the Shanta Foundation, along with the Sustainable Foundation and Nepali Female Filmmakers initiative, she completed her documentary Mother’s School after a ten-month journey.

Mother’s School premiered in December 2022, marking an important milestone for Shuvangi as she pursued storytelling that uplifted women and gender narratives in Nepal.

The Shanta Foundation remains committed to empowering emerging filmmakers, particularly women, through grants and mentorship that foster creative growth and amplify underrepresented voices in the film industry.
